Last updated 18 October 2026

Definitions

In these Terms & Conditions, the following terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them below:

  • "Printer" refers to the FDM 3D printer unit.
  • "MFMS" refers to a Multi-Filament Management System, including but not limited to the Bambu Lab AMS Lite, AMS 1, AMS 2, and Creality CFS and CFS-C, used in conjunction with a registered Printer.

1. Payment

Full payment is required upfront before the first Service Job is booked. Payment is accepted via PayNow, card, or cash. The Plan is activated upon receipt of payment.

The Plan price is non-refundable once payment has been made.

2. Servicing Scope

Each Service Job covers the following for the Printer unit only:

  • Nozzle inspection: Nozzle cleared and inspected for wear and clogging.
  • Extruder service: Drive gear cleaned and inspected for wear. Extruder arm, tension spring, and filament path cleared. Idler bearing lubricated and gear teeth greased.
  • Full cleaning: Build plate cleaned and inspected for surface wear. Fans cleared of dust and debris. Exterior wiped down. Interior chamber cleaned for enclosed printers.
  • Motion system service: Linear rails and bearings lubricated. Lead screws and threaded rods cleaned and greased. Carriage movement verified for smooth travel.
  • Belt inspection: Belt tension checked and adjusted where required. Belt condition inspected for wear, fraying, or misalignment.
  • Firmware check: Updated to the latest manufacturer-issued release.
  • Diagnostic report: Issued upon completion of each Service Job, detailing findings, work performed, and any parts flagged for replacement.

For MFMS servicing scope:

  • Full cleaning: Interior and exterior of the MFMS unit cleaned, including filament slots.
  • Blockage inspection: Filament slots, PTFE tubes, and tube couplers inspected and cleared where necessary.
  • Motion inspection: Spool holder and rotary drive mechanism inspected for resistance, misalignment, and wear. Rotary components cleaned and lubricated where applicable.
  • Firmware check: Updated to the latest manufacturer-issued release.
  • Diagnostic report: Issued upon completion, detailing findings, work performed, and any parts flagged for replacement.

Any parts replacement required for either the Printer unit or MFMS unit shall be quoted separately and shall only proceed upon the customer's written approval.

3. Exclusions

The following are excluded from all Service Jobs under these Plans:

(a) Software troubleshooting, slicer configuration, and any modifications to third-party software or firmware beyond standard manufacturer-issued updates;

(b) Any defect, fault, or damage attributable to user misuse, improper handling, unauthorised modifications, or the use of third-party components in the Printer not supplied or approved by Layer By Layer, whether occurring before or after the Service Job.

4. Recurrence Warranty

Should the identical fault, as documented in the diagnostic report, recur within seven (7) calendar days of the Printer being returned to the customer, Layer By Layer shall re-assess the Printer at no additional service charge, subject to the conditions set out below.

This warranty is strictly limited to the specific root cause identified, diagnosed, and remediated during the original scope of work. Where the same fault code, error, or symptom presents upon recurrence but is attributable to a different underlying cause, such recurrence shall not be covered under this warranty and shall be treated as a new and independent job.

For the avoidance of doubt, the following does not constitute a recurrence warranted under this clause:

(a) A fault presenting with the same symptom or error code as the original but arising from a distinct mechanical, electrical, or material cause;

(b) Blockages, clogs, or feed failures resulting from filament quality, improper filament storage, incorrect print settings, or user-selected materials incompatible with the printer configuration;

(c) Any fault or deterioration arising from user intervention, adjustment, modification, or operation of the Printer following its return;

(d) Faults attributable to third-party components, accessories, or modifications not supplied or approved by Layer By Layer.

Layer By Layer's determination of the root cause of any recurrence shall be final and based solely on the technical findings of the re-assessment.

5. Transport

The customer shall elect one of the following transport arrangements prior to scheduling a Service Job:

(a) Self drop-off and collection: The customer is responsible for delivering and collecting the Printer to and from Layer By Layer's workshop at no transport charge. Arrangements must be confirmed in advance.

(b) Pick-up and drop-off service: Layer By Layer shall arrange collection and return of the Printer at the customer's location. Applicable fees are as listed in the Transport Services section of this agreement and are payable separately, independent of the Plan price. Where the customer's location requires access via staircases, an additional charge of $10 per floor shall apply.

The following locations shall incur an additional surcharge of $50 on top of the standard transport fee, due to distance or access constraints:

(i) Sentosa Island;

(ii) Tuas and the surrounding industrial areas;

(iii) Mandai and the surrounding areas;

(iv) Any other location designated by the Singapore government as a restricted, remote, or off-mainland area.

Layer By Layer reserves the right to decline pick-up and drop-off service to locations that are inaccessible or unsafe, and shall notify the customer as soon as practicable in such cases.

Transport fees are payable regardless of the outcome of the service job, as the transport service is rendered upon collection and return of the Printer.

Transport Services

The following fees cover both the collection and the return of the Printer, and apply whether or not an MFMS unit is sent together with it. Staircase charges and location surcharges set out above are payable in addition.

6. Diagnosis, Parts & Repairs

All servicing and diagnosis shall be carried out at our workshop. No Service Jobs shall be conducted on-site. If additional hardware is required for the repair, a separate quote covering the hardware and labour costs shall be provided. Work shall only commence upon the customer's written approval through a signed quote.

Where the customer provides filament together with the Printer for the purpose of servicing, Layer By Layer is authorised to use the Printer and such filament for testing and calibration purposes as reasonably necessary to verify the outcome of the Service Job. Such use shall be limited to what is reasonably required for diagnostic and quality assurance purposes.

The customer acknowledges that certain repair and diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to firmware updates, factory resets, and system recalibrations, may result in the loss of printer data such as print history, print files, saved profiles, calibration settings, and network configurations. Layer By Layer shall not be liable for any such data loss arising in the course of a Service Job. The customer is advised to back up any data or settings of value prior to submitting the Printer for servicing.

7. Limitation of Liability

Layer By Layer shall exercise due care in all servicing work. Layer By Layer shall not be liable for pre-existing faults, damage resulting from user misuse, or issues arising from third-party modifications to the Printer prior to the date of intake.

Layer By Layer shall not be liable for any damage incurred to the Printer or MFMS unit by a third-party courier during transport.

Layer By Layer shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to illness, injury, natural disasters, or equipment failure. Layer By Layer shall notify the customer as soon as practicable and make reasonable efforts to reschedule affected Service Jobs.

8. Cancellations & Refunds

Before intake: The customer may cancel a Service Job at any time before the Printer is collected by or delivered to Layer By Layer, and any amount paid for that Service Job shall be refunded in full.

After intake, before diagnosis: Where the customer cancels after the Printer has been received but before diagnosis has begun, any diagnosis fee paid shall be refunded in full, less any transport fees already incurred.

After diagnosis has begun: The diagnosis fee is non-refundable once diagnosis has begun, as it covers the work performed. Where the customer declines the repair quote, the Printer shall be returned and only the diagnosis fee and any applicable transport fees shall be payable.

Approved repairs: Where the customer cancels an approved repair before it is completed, the customer shall pay for labour already performed and for any parts already ordered or fitted for the Printer. Any balance paid in excess of these amounts shall be refunded.

Repairs not completed: Where Layer By Layer is unable to complete an approved repair, no labour charge shall apply for that repair, and any amount paid for it shall be refunded, less the cost of any parts fitted with the customer's approval that remain with the Printer.

Custom 3D prints: Custom print orders are made to order. An order may be cancelled for a full refund before printing has begun; once printing has begun, the order is non-refundable. Where a print is defective or does not match the confirmed order specification, the customer shall notify Layer By Layer within seven (7) calendar days of receipt, and Layer By Layer shall, at its option, reprint the affected items or refund the amount paid for them. Orders placed through Shopee or Carousell are subject to the return and refund policies of those platforms.

How refunds are made: Approved refunds shall be made to the original payment method within seven (7) calendar days. Card refunds may take additional time to appear, depending on the card issuer.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits any rights the customer may have under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 1987 or other applicable Singapore law.

9. Acknowledgement

Layer By Layer reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice.

10. Governing Law

Your order will be processed in accordance with the laws of Singapore.
